We are a nonprofit corporation.  All proceeds from sales go right back into the production of our next documentary!

Beyond the Block: The Dominican Republic DVD is a video learning tool for students ages 10-18 that aims to improve global awareness, increase intellectual curiosity, develop critical-thinking skills, and encourage completion of high school and post-secondary education in at-risk youth.

Beyond the Block: The Dominican Republic Activity and Discussion Guide is a 40 page guide developed using the History and Social Science Framework for California Public Schools.  Designed to fulfill the BTB Learning Outcomes, this guide offers background information, pre-video activities, post-video activities, a detailed discussion guide, cross-discipline connections (to English, Social Sciences, Science, Math, and Spanish), ideas for service-learning activities, and book, website, and movie recommendations for further study.

Classroom Presentation or Assembly

We will come to your school and present our video, lead activities, facilitate

discussion, and administer surveys to your students.  We will present to one

group of any size!  Our presentations are engaging and interactive—we're able to answer all the kids' questions about the Dominican and tell behind-the-scenes stories from our trip.

*Please note, the classroom presentation does not include the price of the DVD and Guide.

**Please contact us to purchase!  We offer discounts if you purchase more than one presentation!**

Check out our BTB in the DR clip below on YouTube!

You can use our video and guide in your classroom, in an after-school program, at home, or as a stand-by activity for a substitute teacher or rainy day.  We especially encourage its use during in-school suspension or detention to get kids thinking about their lives and attitudes from a completely different point of view.

We have visited 9 schools and surveyed close to 1000 students since February!  We are currently compiling this data to measure the learning outcomes from the video.  Keep checking back here or email us for the latest updates!
